Manufacturing is about making or processing goods, usually in large quantities, with the help of large, computer-driven industrial machines.
In the world of high technology, a product begins with an idea that leads to a design specification meeting a set of requirements. Once a prototype design is developed and proven, it’s time to figure out how to build a product of that design. This is where manufacturing begins. Manufacturing ends when the finished product is shipped to a customer.
At the Electronics, Intelligence & Support (EI&S) operating group of BAE Systems, based in Nashua, New Hampshire, we manufacture complex systems primarily for the U.S. Department of Defense, as well as some foreign government organizations. We build circuit board assemblies, microelectronics integrated circuits, and subassemblies into total systems. Many of these are installed on military aircraft, ships, and land vehicles. The main purpose of many of our products is to help keep those vehicles and the people in them out of harm’s way.
Some of EI&S’ products include Thermal Weapon Sights and the AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning System.
