Purpose
The BAE Systems Manufacturing Internship Program is designed to meet the needs of local schools, senior and junior high school students, and companies like BAE Systems.
Schools look for ways to introduce students to real-world educational opportunities suited to each student’s abilities and interests. Internships allow students to explore career possibilities and gain marketable skills while earning academic credit at a paid after-school job.
BAE Systems faces a general scarcity of skilled manufacturing workers as it strives to overcome outdated ideas about opportunities and stereotypes about working conditions in manufacturing. The company offers wide-ranging opportunities in some of the defense electronics industry’s most advanced disciplines, along with above-average pay and benefits and opportunities for advancement across a global organization employing more than 100,000 people.
As the company’s New Hampshire-based business continues to expand, it must identify young people with appropriate interests and aptitudes — especially as baby boomers approach retirement.
